Solutions Consultant, Data & Analytics Kansas City, MO



As a D&A Solutions Consultant, your primary role will be working directly with clients and other cross functional groups to gather, analyze, and present data to help demonstrate patterns, support decisions, and discover insights into major business programs for large organizations. This position will be heavily client-facing and require a deep acumen of both consulting and technical skillsThe ideal candidate will have experience in the Microsoft BI and Cortana Intelligence stacks, with a heavy emphasis on business analysis, requirements gathering, data presentation, and technical presalesExperience communicating with and managing key client stakeholders is required, as well as the ability to influence project/business strategy and negotiate scopeYou will have the opportunity to work with and learn the latest Microsoft solutions in a fun work environment. 

  • Ability and experience interfacing directly with and influencing client stakeholders, from c-suite down to individual contributors 

  • Experience with data analysis and presentation 

  • Ability to immerse yourself into a business, gain context, identify value, and set direction for how data is aggregated, consumed, and visualized 

  • Ability and willingness to take the initiative to facilitate teamwork and serve the client needs first  

  • Ability to convert functional requirements into technical roadmaps 

  • Ability to design and implement a BI solution based on client needs  

  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively  

  • Ability to collaborate with other members of the Engineering department, including Project Managers, Software Engineers and Business Analysts


  • 5+ years in SQL Server and Tools  

  • SQL Server Database Engine. 2008 R2 or higher   

  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). 2008 R2 or higher   

  • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). 2008 R2 or higher  

  • SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS). 2008 R2 or higher (Tabular & Multidimensional) 

  • T-SQL, MDX, DAX  

  • 3+ years of database design and development (2-5 years)  

  • Procedures, Functions, Tables and Views  

  • Normalized and Dimensional data modeling  

  • Data Visualization (Excel, PowerPivot, PowerView, Performance Point)  

  • OLAP Cube design, multidimensional and tabular   

  • 5+ years of experience in a consulting or professional services environment 

  • 3+ years of experience interfacing with client decision makers 

  • 1+ year of experience in Power BI 

  • Strong technical ability with Tabular and Multidimensional cubes 

  • Strong technical ability with Cortana Intelligence – Power BI, Azure SQL DW, HDInsight, Azure Data Factory, Azure Machine Learning, Stream Analytics 


  • Preferred Education  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related Computer Engineering field or Associate’s degree from technical college (Devry, University of Phoenix)  or Microsoft Certification   

  • MCSA SQL Server 2012  

  • MCSE Data Management & Analytics
