Manager, Quality Assurance Kansas City, MO



As the Manager of Quality Assurance you will lead a team of QC Analysts and QA Engineers responsible for the testing and support of several large, mission critical and highly visible applications. You will coordinate and collaborate with multiple development teams to understand the business context and technical implementation of the applications in order to facilitate complete and rigorous testing of the functional behavior and output. As a cross functional team working on several separate projects, you will help coordinate team members, and communicate across projects while maintaining a cohesive team.

  • Lead Valorem’s Quality Assurance team, acting as a mentor, lead and coordinator 
  • Provide direct performance management of team members through 1:1 meetings, regular communication with project teams and formal performance reviews 
  • Be responsible for new talent evaluation, acquisition and onboarding 
  • Guide and oversee the professional development of team members through coaching and training 
  • Maintain the applicable Microsoft Competency designations for the team as part of individual and group training plans 
  • Coordinate with the Architecture and other technical teams to define and implement the latest software technologies within the team 
  • Set the standards, processes and toolsets used by the team across projects 
  • Manage the technical assets for multiple projects as a cross functional technical lead


  • Strong experience (5+ years) testing business system software applications 
  • Strong knowledge of quality control and testing methodologies and experiencing implementing for critical business systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Test Manager and Team Foundation Server is highly preferred
  • 5+ years of experience leading technical teams and managing technical resources • Experience performing direct personnel management, including resource allocation, performance evaluation, and budget management
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
  • Experienced with source code management and promotion is preferred
  • Proficient with common office applications, including: MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Lync)
  • Strong collaboration skills, works well with ambiguity, works well across roles and groups
  • Ability and willingness to take the initiative to facilitate teamwork and serve the client needs first • Ability to organize a team for effective execution and tracking of tasks
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively, for both yourself and team members
  • Ability to provide guidance and mentoring for the personal and professional development of team members
  • Ability to collaborate with other leadership in the Engineering department, including Architects, Project Managers, Development Managers and Senior Engineers
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or business administration related field highly preferred
