GENERAL DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

 As a Data Scientist, your primary role will be asking and answering questions in large datasets, and presenting data-driven insights to clients. This position will be client-facing and require a deep acumen of both technical and consulting skillsThe ideal candidate will have experience in the Microsoft BI and Cortana Analytics stacks, with a heavy emphasis on business analysis, data insight discovery, and data presentation. Experience presenting to and communicating with key client stakeholders is required; influencing project/business strategy and scope negotiation is preferred. You will have the opportunity to work with and learn the latest Microsoft solutions in a fun work environment. 

  • Ability and experience with interfacing directly with client stakeholders 

  • Ability to analyze large, complex, multi-dimensional datasets with a variety of tools 

  • Ability to immerse yourself into a business, gain context, identify value, and set direction for how data is aggregated, consumed, and visualized 

  • Strong collaboration skills, works well with ambiguity, works well across roles and groups 

  • Experience with several statistical and predictive modeling concepts, machine-learning approaches, clustering and classification techniques, and estimation and regression methods 

  • Ability to engage directly with the customer and end users  

  • Ability to perform ad-hoc analysis on structured and unstructured datasets 

  • Ability to translate difficult, technical concepts into business jargon  

  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively  

  • Ability to collaborate with other members of the Engineering department, including Project Managers, Software Engineers and Business Analysts

PLACEMENT CRITERIA & REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years in SQL Server and Tools  

  • SQL Server Database Engine. 2008 R2 or higher   

  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). 2008 R2 or higher   

  • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). 2008 R2 or higher  

  • SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS). 2008 R2 or higher (Tabular & Multidimensional) 

  • T-SQL, MDX, DAX  

  • 5+ years of database design and development (2-5 years)  

  • Procedures, Functions, Tables and Views  

  • Normalized and Dimensional data modeling  

  • Data Visualization (Excel, PowerPivot, PowerView, Performance Point)  

  • OLAP Cube design, multidimensional and tabular   

  • 3-5 years of experience in statistical modeling and/or data mining (SSAS, R, Python – clustering, regression, estimation, correlation 

  • 3+ years of experience in a consulting or professional servicees environment 

  • 1+ year of experience in Power BI 

  • Proficient using Big Data querying languages (Hive, Pig, SCOPE, etc) 

  • Experience with NoSQL Databases, such as MongoDB, HBaseetc 

  • Strong technical ability with Tabular and Multidimensional cubes 

  • Strong technical ability with Cortana Analytics – Power BI, Azure SQL DW, HDInsight, Azure Data Factory, Azure Machine Learning, Stream Analytics 

 

  • Preferred Education  

  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining, Operations Research, Applied Statistics, or a related field 

  • Microsoft Certification   

  • MCSA SQL Server 2012  

  • MCSE Data Platform, MCSE Business Intelligence

While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear.
