Manager, PMO Headquarters – Kansas City, MO


The PMO Manager will lead a team of project managers and business analysts by providing oversight on professional development and project/program support. As part of the PMO, the Manager will partner with the PMO Director to help enhance PMO standardization. In addition, the Manager will collaborate with practice managers, Architects, Program Managers and other team Managers to ensure optimized delivery of software applications and solutions.

  • Lead Valorem’s project managers and business analysis, acting as a mentor, lead and coordinator
  • Provide direct performance management of team members through 1:1 meetings, regular communication with project teams and formal performance reviews
  • Responsible for development of employees, including growing core competencies within each role through individual mentorship and training curriculum
  • Be responsible for new talent evaluation, acquisition and onboarding
  • Lead PMO projects and change management efforts as required
  • Engage and support client work – programs and projects – as directed and as circumstances warrant
  • Focus PMO teams on client services and the consultative nature of the organization and department
  • Guide and oversee the professional development of team members through coaching and training and development of training materials
  • Coordinate with other practice managers and teams to define and implement the latest software technologies, services and processes within the team
  • Audit and ensure process compliance throughout Valorem projects and programs
  • Manage the assets for multiple projects as a cross functional technical lead
  • Assist in new business development and presales through the development of proposals, SOW’s and RFP’s
  • Work closely with the PMO Director to identify opportunities within the PMO for process standards and performance expectations


  • 2-3 years of experience performing direct personnel management, including resource allocation, and performance evaluation
  • 7+ years of experience leading project teams and managing resources
  • Expertise in project management methodologies, such as Waterfall, Scrum and iterative development
  • Expertise in delivery management processes, such as capacity management, cost management, schedule management, risk management, and communications management
  • Experienced with technical concepts, such as relational databases, source code management and code promotion
  • Proficient with common office applications, including: MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Lync)
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
  • Strong collaboration skills, works well with ambiguity, works well across roles and groups
  • Ability and willingness to take the initiative to facilitate teamwork and serve the client needs first
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively, for both yourself and team members
  • Ability to provide guidance and mentoring for the personal and professional development of team members
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or business administration related field highly preferred

While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and drive or ride in a motor vehicle.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.  Must have the ability to travel, sometimes with short notice.
