Manager, Communications Kansas City, MO

GENERAL DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Communications Manager will work closely with the Operations leader and the management team in understanding company growth strategy, philosophy, principles, short and long term goals and will be responsible for creating, implementing and overseeing communications programs, be it internal or external, that effectively describe and promote the organization and convey the organization’s messages. They are responsible for corresponding with employees and external stakeholders to keep them informed of company developments. The Communications Manager will create strategies to increase employee awareness and promote productivity.

Qualified candidates will -

  • Ensure that employees are aware of changes and projects within the company
  • Distribute executive messages, prepare presentations and internal memos, and conduct meetings to share information
  • Research, plan, execute and measure activities encompassing internal communications
  • Partner with Marketing and Human Resources on marketing communications, advertising, public relations, community relations, crisis communications and recruiting
  • Develop content and coordinate placement on internal and external websites, and social media platforms
  • Support crisis communications planning and response

PLACEMENT CRITERIA & REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s Degree in communications, public relations, or marketing
  • 5+ years progressively responsible experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Able to handle with highly confidential information
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with employees and vendors
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Able to adhere to tight deadlines
  • Organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
  • Able to respond quickly to a dynamic and changing environment;
  • Must have a high commitment to quality and timeliness of products
  • Must be intellectually curious and not afraid to ask questions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and drive or ride in a motor vehicle.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.  Must have the ability to travel, sometimes with short notice.
