Business Intelligence Engineer Headquarters - Kansas City, MO

GENERAL DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

Valorem is seeking a Business Intelligence professional with a passion for utilizing the Microsoft BI Stack to provide value and insights to a business. The Business Intelligence Engineer has experience building and contributing to the design of database systems, both normalized transactional systems and dimensional reporting systems. Strong experience with SQL Server as a database engine, as well as experience with Integration Services, Reporting Services and Analysis Services. Qualified candidates will have experience and skill in providing solutions for storing, retrieving, transforming and aggregating data to support line of business applications as well as reporting systems.

  • Ability to collaborate with other members of the Engineering department, including Project Managers, Software Engineers and Business Analysts

PLACEMENT CRITERIA

2-5+ years in SQL Server and Tools 

      • SQL Server Database Engine. 2008 R2 or higher  
      • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). 2008 R2 or higher  
      • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). 2008 R2 or higher 
      • SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS). 2008 R2 or higher 
      • T-SQL, MDX, DAX 

2-5+ years of database design and development (2-5 years) 

        • Procedures, Functions, Tables and Views 
        • Normalized and Dimensional data modeling 
        • Data Visualization (Excel, PowerPivot, PowerView, Performance Point)  
        • Knowledge of Team Foundation Server 

Preferred Education (either / or)

        • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related Computer Engineering field 
        • Associate’s degree from technical college (Devry, University of Phoenix)  
        • Microsoft Certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and drive or ride in a motor vehicle.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.  Must have the ability to travel, sometimes with short notice.
